The Brown Stingray (Dasyatis fluviorum) from the family Dasyatidae (Whiptail Stingrays), and Order Myliobatiformes, is a rare ray that I have only seen in Sydney once. Following some research it seems that this stingray is in decline due to changes in its habitat which has become increasingly affected by coastal development. It has a long tail and a pointed nose, and is brownish in colour.
