Summer in Sydney is during the months of December, January and February. The average temperature is 30 degrees Celsius and average water temperature range at about 19-21 degrees Celsius. The climate and extra long sunny days usually brings large algae blooms which make visibility underwater drop to an average of 5 metres. On night dives there is more plankton that gets attracted to the diver's torch which makes visibility appear dirty.
During the summer months there are typically more stingrays and fewer sharks. During these months tropical fish start to appear more regularly in Sydney. During the summery months diving can feel unpleasant for putting on the wetsuit but it is very pleasant when getting out of your wet wetsuit after a dive and drying within just a few minutes. Parking spots are harder to get during the summer which means summer diving is early diving!
