Lizardfish can often be seen in Sydney perched on the sand with their heads held high but can be hard to spot due to their camouflage. The common name for this order of fish is 'Grinners' which seems obvious once you see them. They really do have quite a cute smile on their face. There are only about 35 species of lizardfish known worldwide. Whilst up to fourteen species have been recorded in Sydney, I have only spotted the Clouded Lizardfish (Saurida nebulosa).
