Extra rain and storms frequent the area however during the calm moments in between storms the water visibility is at its best.
Winter diving is the best in Sydney. With the improved visibility, the sounds of whales singing underwater, dolphins cruising by and extra sharks (friendly ones!) in the area winter diving is by far the best. Visibility underwater starts to improve to an average of 15 metres but can get as good as 25 metres on a good day. Port Jackson sharks come in large numbers along with more Wobbegong sharks and Grey Nurse sharks. Temperate fish migrate to Sydney waters during winter and large schools of fish are often sighted.
