The Plocamopherus imperialis is a nudibranch in the family Polyceridae. This orange nudibranch can be missing from the sea floor for weeks/months and then all of a sudden can almost litter the floor! They are a temperate water nudibranch and so are seen more regularly in the cooler months. Interestingly they can produce bioluminescence and flash colours down the sides of their body when they try to warn off predators. They can also use their tail as a paddle and swim in open water.
