Leatherjackets have a unicorn-like spine above their head that depending on their mood will either be erect (like a unicorn) or lay flat to their body. They have small mouths and fused teeth. Their eyes are like big buttons on their head. They can also fan out their tail fin, and some species can bulge out their belly when attracting mates.

This unusual group of fish can have unicorn horns and are typically identified by their box-like shape. They are not uncommon in Sydney and are certainly one of the most tropical and beautiful fish
