Nudibranchs are in Phylum Mollusca, in the class Gastropoda and in the subclass Opisthobranchia. They are a very common sighting in Sydney and it is rare that they are not seen on a dive. They are colourful and slow moving. They are hermaphrodites, carrying both male and female parts, and when they reproduce they can be seen "duelling" as they both try to impregnate the other. Their crazy alien-like colours are a way to ward off potential predators by trying to appear extremely toxic.
